You come across many things about the Mayan 2012 calendar and foretelling these days. And, with the recent breakdown of financial institutions and firms all over the world, earth tragedies such as earthquakes and title waves, it certainly seems like a specific thing is happening. But what is the real story behind these mayan 2012 prophecies, and if there is certainty in the foretelling, what can we do regarding it?

In July of 2007, the chief of the Mayan Council and all 440 Mayan tribes, Don Alejandro Cirillo, traveled from Guatemala to Sedona, Arizona to meet with Drunvalo Melchizedek to clear up conventional misperceptions about the Mayan Forecast and 2012. There have been countless others who articulated about the Mayan Calendar and 2012 in the past, but the original Mayan Council has been purposely silent for over 200 years. Now, for the first time in recent history are they speaking out with regard to their wisdom and the Prophecies.
The information is very clear. This is not the end of life, but is a new beginning in humanity's consciousness. Yes, there will be significant changes with the earth and in social life. We are already witnessing this with the current collapse of old financial organizations in the world, and changes in the earth's magnetic field. We are, as the Mayan's say in the "End of Time", an approximately 8 year period during which the shift will quicken as they head towards 2012.
For the completely new beginnings to birth, the old, stale, ego based systems must come to an end. Whether it is antique corporate structures, financial systems, or political systems, if they are based on false, inauthentic structures or premises, they must change. As we move towards 2012, more and more changes will occur. Old schemes will collapse making way for new, more genuine heart based models to be created.
Ac Tah, a Mayan leader who, in the past few years has come into renown spreading his message in Mexico, says that 2012 is not the end of life, it is actually the beginning. Changes are occurring now, and will continue to occur after 2012. Humanity as a whole will wake up in cognizance. He asserts the extent of the changes that will occur and how critical they are greatly depend on the level of human consciousness. He says the best thing we all can do at this time is to come together in unity, regardless of race, religion, creed or philosophy.
There are other spiritual leaders from Mexico, which holds one of the largest Mayan populations, who have a identical message. Famed author of The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz has recently published another book called The Fifth Agreement. He spends much of his time journeying in North America and Mexico spreading his message "Ayudame cambiar el Mundo," which means "Help me change the World," in English.
Don Miguel says the goal of changing the world is finding equilibrium between altruism and gratitude - which is an expression of real love. He goes further by saying that the world is a living being and we humans are a portion of the organism of the earth and as such we transform the world through our energy. The way we influence energy is through awareness. So, as we move deeper into love in our energy, thoughts, feelings, words and deeds, we impact our mother, the earth, in a positive approach.
The bottom line is that though there may be numerous changes that happen as we approach 2012 and after, and these changes can bring up fear of the unknown, we are living in a special time in humanity's history. What on the exterior may look like catastrophe is really the old coming to an end in order to make way for the new. This doesn't mean that there will not be tragedy as the changes happen. When a big organization collapses many lose their jobs. When there are earthquakes, many may even lose their lives. And, while such things have always cropped up in human history, it does not negate the difficulties and tragedies that occur. At the same time, however, according to the Mayans and other spiritual leaders, in the bigger picture what is happening has been destined to happen for a very long time. And most importantly, it is carrying human beings to a much better world to dwell in.
